Colin James to be in the Limelight at Banff Centre
Canadian music icon Colin James will be showcasing his new album Limelight at The Banff Centre on Friday night.
James, a multi Juno winning artist, will be in Banff at the Eric Harvie Theatre as part of his coast to coast Canadian tour that started at the end of January.
“As a presenter I am absolutely delighted he’s coming,” said The Banff Centre’s presentations manager Kurt Bagnell.
Along with James will be singer, songwriter, and guitarist Colin Linden, who will be doing the opening act for the show. Linden will possibly be playing on some of the songs with James, as he is featured on the album. Linden is also a very prominent character in the Canadian music scene, not just for his performing talents, but also for his Grammy nominated producing.
With two big Canadian acts coming into town for the night Bagnell expects the theatre, which seats over 900 people, to sell out quickly for this show.
James is expected to do a mix of some of his more classic tunes, but with a focus on his latest effort.
James’s career has taken many different paths since his self-titled debut album released in 1988 went multi-platinum in Canada. He has made albums that span many genres including blues, rock and big band.
Limelight marks another change in the artist’s path with this newest release being a more soulful album. To recreate the sound of the album on stage he is touring with a six-piece band including two horns.
