Colin James is great. He's consistent, fun, and he can write a sad ballad or a rockin' blues tune. Here, on his first recording for MapleMusic, he seems to let the blues take a bit of a step back for a more pop-rock sound, tinged with blues here and there. Opener 'Better Way To Heaven' is an upbeat pop-rocker, 'Limelight' is another pop-rocker blessed with a great acoustic guitar solo. He whips the blues out on the Dylan cover 'Watchin' The River Flow', beautiful one. Whether it's his own song or someone else's, Colin can pick 'em and do wonders with them.
